Paying homage to family, Home is the inaugural exhibition featuring paintings and mixed media works from Luwee’s private collection. Bringing together both established and emerging artists from Singapore, our region and beyond, Home presents 28 artworks that explore memory, belonging and identity.

For our family, Home may be the reason behind some of the hardest decisions to make. Admittedly, home is a complex amalgamation of place, time and memories where one requires a leap of faith to leave behind unlikely roads.  In other words, family — or home — can be said to be the starting point of who we are, who we are becoming, where we are going to and how we wish to continue.

Over the years, we have had the pleasure of exquisite culinary adventures, crossing paths with artisans honing a particular craft imbued by history and carefree longings.  Along the way, some of these hidden talents were homebound, while others were bright-eyed voyagers who had journeyed far from their respective homes to weave their desired future into existence for themselves and their family. There were also many alternative or thorny pathways, where the road ahead seemed unclear and still they carry on… for their family, their home.

The different paths they had intersected were carefully rooted in the belief that all roads would lead home. Every single encounter offered a much needed respite to all parties present. For someone in pursuit of their dreams, being away from home can end up permanent or lasts only for a short period of time. However, the home-away-from-home connection relished through food is evergreen. It evokes care, expresses hope, and elicits a yardstick for possibilities that technology cannot imitate: assurance.
